No one gets deceived. Deception is done to oneself. And it is a further deception to believe that someone else is deceiving you. Grow up, and you'll understand what this means.

People expect their love lives to be like they see in soapies.

The sad truth is that deception is so inherent in society that people of learned to expect it; trust is so rarely seen that it is regarded as a falsehood, a letting down of one's guard, a vulnerability cast by deception. Love is smothered by the cautiousness and self-restraint taught by the world we live in. It's a sorry fact I try to work against, with more conviction than before I experienced such a loss in love.

There is a series of emotions in love. At first, you believe that the person in an angelic figure. Everything is fun, and new. The person you love is an unturned book, and each page appears more fascinating than the last. But then, reality sets in, and in day-to-day life, sometimes people get frustrated, they act out and treat each other wrongly. Then, it seems that the lover was deceptive, but in reality sometimes it is just "coming back to earth". To have true love, like my grandparents had, I think means not to get bothered as much by life's problems (fights will happen occasionally) and to accept each others' faults.
