Yes Sarah, you are right they are synonyms. Both of them can be used while introducing a statement that makes the main statement in a sentence seem surprising " Although/though" Barcelona played well, they lost the game OR Barcelona lost the game, although/though they played well. However, "Though" is used more in spoken than in written English. It can also be used at the end of a sentence which makes the previous statement less important. For example, Barcelona lost. It was a good game though. You can also use even though. Few more examples: 1. Have you ever been to Australia? No I did like to go though. 2. I felt she was wrong, although I didn't say so at the time. 3. Even though you dislike chemistry, you should try to concentrate. 4.Although Peter has a car, he doesn't often drive. 5. I liked the shirt. I decided not to buy, though.
