My text book say

1. When do you expect Mr. Johnson to come back?
answer is (He didn't tell me)
but I thought (Every day except Tuesday)

Because I could say like this
- Every day except Tuesday because that time doesn't work anyone so he can't come back that time 100%.

In addition I thought, Text book's answer

He didn't tell me
- Speaker Just ask to listener "Expect", guessing.
Why he say or not is important it doesn't matter just "Expect" and guess

So I'm confusing of these.

Anyone give me your advice !!!

Mr Johnson will be back that day sometime.  We do not know what time he will be coming back.  He did Not say.  "every day except tuesday" answers a different question.  It answers the question, "What days does Mr. Johnson work?"  It even says the answer to "When is Mr. Johnson normally in his office?"

It does not say the specific time he will be back today, and it does not even say when he will be back this week.  It would be an unclear answer to that question.
