The differences between 送 and 给 are a little more complicated as they both have many meanings.
送 sòng
• deliver; carry 送信 deliver a letter
• give as a present; give
弟弟送我一本书.= my younger brother gave me a book
• see somebody off/out; escort accompany
送他回家=see him home
到飞机场送人= see somebody off at the airport
给 gěi
• to give; grant
我爸爸给了我一本书= My father gave me a book
• let allow make (让)
给我看看 = Let me have a look
• prep. used after a verb to indicate handing over something
我把钥匙留给你: I'll leave the key with you.
• for the sake of/benefit of (为)
他给你当翻译= he'll act as a translator for you.
• used to introduce the recipient of an action (向)
他给我道歉了= he's apologized to me
• used in a passive sentence for emphasis (被)
弟弟把花瓶给打了。=(my) brother broke the vase.
* When studing chinese you often have to look at the 具体的 (concrete) and 抽象的 (abstract) concepts and to see if that verb can be used with both.
