The closest is Gabi which is a short name for Gabrielle for a woman or Gabriel for a man . It comes from the Hebrew name גַבְרִיאֵל (Gavri'el) meaning "strong man of God". Gabriel was one of the seven archangels in Hebrew tradition. He appears in both the Old Testament and the New Testament, where he serves as the announcer of the births of John to Zechariah and Jesus to Mary. According to Islamic tradition he was the angel who dictated the Qur'an to Muhammad.

In English 'gappy' (the closest sound match) means 'having lots of gaps', 'being interspersed with holes'. So you could have a gappy bridge (a bridge with slats missing) or gappy teeth (where a few teeth are missing leaving gaps).

In my native language, Kaiyumian, "gapi" is not native so it would be transcribed as "gappi" which sometimes means "gap". When transcribed as "gapii" or "gappii", it is a type of "contextual-linking-word" that means "place where ground is too hot to place bare feet on" (in short, ancient way of saying "volcanic ground") In Japanese, it is ガピ which just means "gapi". (no meaning)
