Use vocabulary-cards. if possible in more than one language. This means you write the word you've to learn on one side and on the other side the same word in two or more languages. You'll have a learning-effect when you make em and can carry them with you. When you got 5 minutes spare time, just take the cards out and go through them.

I think of sentences I would like to say and look up all the words that I would need in that sentence. I don't bother learning useless words like tiger etc. I like to learn verbs such as 'speak' and adjectives such as'beautiful'. nouns are very useful as well obviously such as 'person'. I write the words down, repeat them and read lots of Farsi sentences everyday to hopefully come across the words I learned recently to consolidate it to my memory.
