what's the difference between " I long for her" and " I miss her".

They could be the same. However, "I long for her" could also mean that you desire someone who is not currently your girlfriend/boyfriend, or with whom you are not currently having a relationship. You can only "miss" someone you are usually spending time with who is now someplace else.
