Is the spoken language named differently from its written form?
the spoken language is 普通话.
its written form, we call it 汉字.
En général, vous devriez prendre le cours de 汉语, et vous auriez apprendre à parler 普通话 et écrire les 汉子。 :)

普通话(标准普通话)=中国官方语言=Mandarin
if you are learning Chinese, then you are learning 中文
traditional full-form Chinese characters(which used in Taiwan ,HK,Japan,Korea。。。)
simplified Chinese character is used in mainland of China
both traditional full-form Chinese characters and simplified Chinese character can be spoken in Mandarin,or other dialects, like Cantonese .
but I think it's best to learn to speak mandarin because it's official and most widely used.
thank you
