What does としては("toshite ha") mean?
Hello,
What does としては mean?
Exampleｓ:
１、 あの人は学者としては立派だが、人間としては尊敬できない。
What does it mean? How about "toshite ha"?
2. 彼は医者であるが、小説化としても有名である。
３．日本はアジアの一員としての役割をはたさなければならない

i think として can tranlate to 'as...' in English. which express qualification or position.
あの人は学者としては立派だが、人間としては尊敬できない。
that person as a scholar is excellent, but as a human who is can't be respected.
彼は医者であるが、小説化(小説家)としても有名である。
he is not only a doctor , but as a novelist also famous.
日本はアジアの一員としての役割をはたさなければならない
Japan as one of Asian country must play a important role.
