What does 'tchakabum ' mean? Here is the sentence I read it in: "A época do tchakabum era melhor pra ela! Que corpo horroroso!"

It sounds like a drumbeat... maybe it refers to the group Tchakabum? http://tchakabum.com.br/

"Tchakabum" is the name of a brazilian music group (a terrible one, by the way...) and it doesn't mean anything. This sentence is talking about one of the dancers, implying that she was in better shape when she was with the group. For curiosity: the group music style is called "axé". This kind of music was really popular in the 90's and 2000's, but it's sort of outdated nowadays. You can check them on youtube ( I do NOT recommend, though *laugh*) www.youtube.com/watch?v=EWiV_01P6do

Peachey is correct, just a sound, but in Brazil means nothing in special, just a name without sense of a band. They are very different from Alcione, other kind of music.
