What does "fold" mean in this sentence:
The performance improvement reflected approximately a 5,000-fold speedup.
Does it mean 5,000 times? I can't find the similar meaning in dict.

Yes, when -fold is added to a number, it means "times". Threefold, tenfold, hundredfold, thousandfold...
