It means I would take (use the word) "Fähigkeiten".

I think he meant, "I would take (use) the word "Faehigkeit". That wasn't my specific question but he was elaborating on what I had written.

Fähigkeiten = abilities.
Fähigkeiten nehmen would mean take abilities or take away abilities - it does not make sense.
It seems that the wrong is verb
