I think the word "กว่าจะ" usually refers to the action that you have to try to put an effort or you have to be through the other thing in order to acheive something, For example, 1. He does understand the meaning of love after she has left him. กว่าเขาจะเข้าใจคำหมายของคำว่ารัก เธอก็ทิ้งเขาไปแล้ว or you can alternatively say เขาเข้าใจความหมายของคำว่ารัก หลังจากที่เธอทิ้งเขาไปแล้ว 2. Before she can be that much beautiful, she had to pay a lot of money for plastic surgery. กว่าจะสวยขนาดนั้น เธอต้องเสียเงินทำศัลยกรรมไปมากมาย I think this word is quite similar to the word "ก่อนจะ" (before). กว่าจะ is before or until to something happens.
