뭐 is a 명사, so it's supposed to be followed by -인가요.
But I can 뭐가요 and 뭔가요 everywhere...
What's the reason? Anyone?

The 이 in 인 gets merged with the ㅝ in 뭐 and ㄴ moves under 뭐. So 뭐 + -인가요 = 뭔가요
