First some corrections. May I say " the recluse was serenely smothered with the mass of people " ? smother means" conceal or hide, If so could I say" the talented guy was serenely smothered with the mass of people..." I wanto to express that the guy has talents but no one knows. Always a capital I for yourself. Avoid "wanna" it is not a real word, it is just what "want to" sounds like when said quickly. Avoid its use. smother can mean suffocate, conceal, cover thickly, lavish afffection on. The meaning of smother that you are implying in this English sentence is suffocate so serenely does not fit. Your explanation outside of the sentence shows that you mean conceal but serenely still does not fit. Perhaps you could use, something like The recluse was suffocated by the mass of people. (that is really the only thing that fits, even though you mean conceal. Going along with what you intended, you might say "The presence of the recluse was hidden by the mass of people" and The talents of the person were concealed by the mass of competing people. Again, I have altered the final portion "mass of people" as you hid a persons talents by comparison with similar individuals. I hope that this has not totally confused you.

No one can be smothered serenely. It may be cultural but death or emotions related to death evoke sadness even if the person was ready to leave this world. A person can be serene in their death but not in a death from lack of oxygen.
