The Philippine alphabet had been altered so many times to maintain adaptability to changing conditions. The recent most alteration was of the 1987 Philippine Constitution which stated that the Filipino alphabet must be consisted of the 26 ISO Basic Latin Alphabet + Spanish "Ñ" + Austronesian diagraph "NG". The order goes like this: A-B-C-D-E-F-G-H-I-J-K-L-M-N-Ñ-NG-O-P-Q-R-S-T-U-V-W-X-Y-Z Now, scripts are a whole lot different issue.

There have been several alphabets used to write various languages of the Philippines in pre-colonial times. Like other South-East Asian alphabets (or "abugidas" to be more precise), they were derived from the Brahmic scripts of India. The Buhid, Baybayin and Hanunó'o scripts are examples. I'm not sure if any of them are still used.

A - as in App Ba - as in BAt Ka - like the sound in CUt Da - the sound of da in DArk or DArt E - as in Egg Ga - as in GAttling Ha - as in HAs I - as in Inner La - as in LAst Ma - as in MAp Na - as in NAp Nga - like the sound of ng in endiNG O - as in Opposite Pa - as in PAnt Ra - as in RAt Sa - as in SAt Ta - as in TArt U - same sound in scOOp Wa - as in WAter Ya - as in YArd As you can see, the consonant letters have the vowels with them when describe as alphabets, to make it sound tagalog, but it is not necessarily included when used in words. As you can see, the Filipino or Tagalog Alphabets are similar to western alphabets, because it was influenced by it long ago when the Philippines were still under the spanish colony.
