“Atrament” // “Atramentum” // “Atramenti” + Canis = ??? I know very little about Latin aside from the fact that it sounds very beautiful. Could somebody please help me puzzle out the Latin equivalent for something? It sounds silly but I am trying to figure out how to say something referencing a dog composed of black ink — I realize this likely sounds very silly. The English made-up compound word would be inkdog, or something to that effect. I know there is a term for very black ink [atrament, atramentum, or atramenti], and the word for dog is canis or canem. But I do not know the difference between the words, and trying to look up Latin grammar has made me more confused. Could somebody help me figure out some poetic ways to say inkdog // black ink dog // dog of ink? ^^

My guess: 'canis ex atramento' or saying about color 'canis coloris atramenti'

Hmm. If you're looking for a compound noun like the English "inkdog", it will be hard to find a good equivalent as Latin doesn't build compound nouns in the same way. So a phrase is more likely, and "canis atramenti" ("dog of ink") would work fine. Alternatively, and you could say "canis pictus" ("a painted/drawn dog", NB if the dog is female it would be "canis picta").
