How do I tell a barber: "just use a razor on the sides and just a little off the top"?

something like "An den Seiten bitte nur rasieren und von oben nur ein bisschen was weg"
very true, you don't want to make any language mistakes when getting your hair cut, it could end very dramatically ;)
