'Not' is used to negate a verb. I am tired I'm not tired. 'No' is used to negate a noun. Some money/ No money A lot of time/ No time A house is a building. A home is where you live.

No =not a / not any; home is abstract and house is the concrete place.

1. Not/ no - they are both negatives, but they have different uses. The word not is best used when negating a state of "to be", I am not a nurse, I am not religious, I am not from there... I am not You are not They are not We are not and no is used typically when describing ownership, or when negating a noun - person, place or thing, around the word have. I have no dog I have no money I have no friends She has no children They have no car. Etc. But you could also say, "I do not have any money" - but then again you are going from a "to be " state. But both are correct in that case. House vs. home Home is associated with comfort, family, and good things. "I want to go home", "home is where the heart is", "this house is not a home" House is a building where you live. It's more cold, and not associated with everything good. For ex., when talking about someone else who left to return back to their _____ you can say both "She went home earlier" OR "She went back to her house". It can be both. But if you are referring to the place that you love, and you want to go back to, and you also live there - that is home. If you are talking about the building that is usually referred to as a house... I hope that makes sense!
