French national dictionary?
Pretty much every European language has its own, national dictionary...
Be it "Duden" in German (Germany), or the Oxford English Dictionary in English (UK), or the Diccionario de la lengua española for Spanish (Spain).
So I was wondering what the French equivalent is? Francophiles, anyone? :)

Hi, Rimi.
The best I can think of without sweating much are these:
1.Le Petit Larousse Illustre (pls, do excuse me for not having used stresses but no french keyboard at hand)
2.Le grand Robert
3.Le nouveau bescherelle (when it comes to verbs and conjugating them!!!! It's a must have for all french language learners and has helped me greatly over the years).
Fingers crossed, the above mentioned sources could help you a bit at least at present.
Cheers,
Lida

I agree with Magali. When I was studying French, the standard reference dictionaries were Larousse and Robert. If I'm not mistaken, the Larousse is the more traditional of the two.

I don't think we have a "national' dictionary, but Larousse is the best known here. The second one would be Robert.
