"Seeing that" or "now that"
______ the children have gone abroad to study we’ve got a lot of spare time.
A.Now that B. Seeing that
Which one should I choose?
Both mean 既然. This is a typical hair-splitter as encountered in tests in China. I would choose A. "Seeing that" means "considering that", as if the increased spare time were not a fact. Choosing "now that" better fits the situation, I believe.
