Asking for a pair of chopsticks in Mandarin What is the correct way to ask for a pair of chopsticks? (For example, in a restaurant or someone's home) Is this correct? 你有筷子吗? or in pinyin: Nǐ yǒu Kuàizi ma? Is 筷子 the correct word for chopsticks? Also, is there supposed to be a measure word used with chopsticks? For example, even in English people will often ask for a "pair of chopsticks".

You are perfectly right in both pronunciation and writing . 筷子=chopsticks. of course, you may just ask them to bring you a pair of chopsticks as" 请给我筷子or 请给我双筷子,if you have companies, you may make it as " 请给我们筷子“, you don't even describe the "unit/ measure word" as they will never give you single piece as it doesn't work itself. i hope this will work.

Thanks for your reply, Eason. You mentioned the word 双 in your 2nd sentence. Is that the measure word for pairs of things? What types of items is it used with?
