An order of pancakes
Hi, what does "an order of ~ "mean?
I can understand, a glass of water, a cup of soup, a dish of ice cream and a piece of pizza.
If I order an order of pancakes in a restaurant, how much pancakes I would get?
I heard you say, "an order of scrambled eggs".
Can I say a dish of scrambled eggs?

An order doesn't mean an exact number, it's just the number that come with the portion the restaurant serves. If you order "pancakes" in a restaurant, you will get one "order" of pancakes. They will often specify how many come in an order.
