You are right, you did hear the ㄴ. Words that come before the word 잎 can sometimes act a little bit different than you would expect. In these cases, the final ㅊ/ㅅ morphs to an ㄴ sound and not what you were expecting. The words 꽃잎 (petal), 나뭇잎 (leaf) and 깻잎 (sesame leaf) are all pronounced as 꼰잎, 나문잎 and 깬잎 respectively. I can't think offhand of any other words that do this except for the ones involving 잎, but I will sleep on it and try and figure out what the rule is.
