A question about grammar in spoken English
Hello, I'm Tony Scott, a junior high school student in China. We study the grammar of English at school everyday. The number of grammar points is so large that I often forget some of them.So when I talk with somebody in English, I must take heed of my grammar whether is correct.
I have a problem: Is the grammar so important in spoken English? Thanks for your help~

No Tony, the way that English is taught in China is not very useful. If you want to communicate with native speakers it is just important to have a go and try to say things even if you make mistakes.Nobody will laugh and mostly people will understand you and correct you.I think that lots of grammar rules only stop people from having the confidence to have a go and talk.
I say this as someone who has taught Chinese students for the last 3 years.
Go ahead and find a language partner and just talk, and forget about the grammar, unless you need it for your written exams.

Grammar is important, but native speakers will still understand you if your grammar is not correct. Don't use grammar as an excuse to not talk to native speakers, but don't throw away grammar points either. They are the foundation for clear and concise communication. At the same time, don't give yourself too much pressure.

I've encountered many who are learning English, and honestly grammar isn't so much the issue! Even native English speakers do not have perfect grammar all the time. Relax and have fun with it, and if you mess up. I'm sure whoever you're talking to will either a) help you out, or b) ignore the mistake and keep going with the conversation!
However, I would say pronunciation can be something that makes it more difficult to understand each other, but can also be worked through!

Grammar is important to fame sentences in English. If you are bad at grammar your sentences would be all wrong which will leave a bad impress on other people. However there won't be much problem in understanding what you are trying to say

I agree that in conversation most grammar errors are overlooked and a native will just seek to understand what you are saying. For that, your vocabulary and accent are key. However, if you plan to write for college papers or business, then the grammar becomes a more essential element. So do what you have to do for school now, get a partner to practice speaking with to improve your accent and write a little every day where you spend more time focusing on the grammar.
