English is easier to learn for anybody who has nothing in common with Germanic languages. So even though we have some words of German provenance it doesn't matter after all for the grammar is like 7000x harder. I've no idea how about other Slavic languages, I was always interested in any but these :) I think neither of them could be really similar to German when we can all understand each other with no difficulties. My guess is Czech :)
