Could you explain grammar of fragment: 어머니가 집을 떠났다는 소식을 Hello. I have ran into the sentence: 소년은 이미 어머니가 집을 떠났다는 소식을 접하게 되었다. I don't sure what is "어머니가 집을 떠났다는 소식을" meaning. Is that "news that (about) mother had left the house"? I translated the whole sentence as: "The boy got to hear news that mother had already left the house." Could you check if it is correct and explain rule which apply in this case? Thank you very much!
