It depends on what it's used for because it has various translations in Japanese.
For noun, basically, we say と, but sometimes we say とか、や, etc.
For verb and adjective, we use the TE-form.
To connect sentences, we use TE-form or connecters depending on the context.

Usually と is best for just a couple items, but や and とか are better for a non-exhaustive list of items.
