Do we say 'wait for a moment'? Or is it more common to say 'Wait a moment, please'? Thank you!

'Wait a moment' is the usual phrase. We might use the 'for' within a sentence, for example 'I waited for a moment and then I went home', but in the imperative form we just say 'Wait a moment' or 'Wait a minute'.
