How to analyse this sentence's structure?
I read it in the introduction of today. It's at the beginning of a paragraph and it talks about Sherlock. Here it is:
A man for his time, then; for the detective himself was not above bludgeoning cadavers in dissecting rooms or attempting for no little time to transfix a dead pig with a harpoon in a butcher's shop, all in the pursuit of criminal knowledge.
I even don't know whether I understand it correctly. How to analyse this sentence's structure? Thank you! :)
