Basically:
1. Stay hydrated: Drink A LOT of liquids.
2. Stay rested. Avoid being around people as much as possible.
3. Blow your nose often and gently. (if you blow too hard, it creates pressure in your ears)
4. Eat chicken soup / any hot soup.
5. Take steam showers. (it helps clear your nasal passages)
6. Wash your hands often!
7. Vitamin C. Drink orange juice, eat fruits high in vitamin C....

I would use honey, lemon and hot water make it like you would a cup of tea.

I agree. I hate taking medicines unless it's absolutely necessary. I think the best thing for a cold is to stay well hydrated and get proper nutrition. I like to drink some hot tea too. ^^ Always makes me feel better.

I always make a cup of cinnamin tea and add so lemon and a bit of sugar, I drink it and it relaxs me.

Pour some eucalyptus oil in a basin of hot water. Put a towel over your head and inhale the steam. Drink hot tea with lemon & honey. Take 3 echinacea tablets daily. Eat as much as possible. We have a saying here: starve a fever, feed a cold.
