食せ Exact meaning and difficult phrase 見無い食事を持って来た。。。食せ I'm assuming it means meal, but am trying to find an accurate translation. Also, the excerpt I'm taking it from is 見無い食事を持って来た。。。食せ which seems like...."I've brought the food that can't be seen....the food" which is....strange, to say the least. Thanks for any help あ、じゃあ、日本語で。私は「食せ」の意味が少しだけ分かりません。意味は何ですか? それ他に、この部分「見無い食事を持って来た。。。食せ」は変なだから、英語は意味が知りますか?「I've brought the food that can't be seen...the food」ようにの意味ですけど、変なだから、ちょっと助けてくれてですか?

Maybe not 「見無い」but 「見舞い」. These two Chinese characters may look similar, but they are different characters. 「見舞い」means to come to see a sick person or a thing which is brought in such cases. I'm not sure, but I guess this scene is like this. He/She comes to his/her friend who is sick in bed. He/She thinks that his/her friend can't prepare a meal because he/she is ill, so he/she brings a meal for him/her. And that person says. 「見舞い持ってきた。食べてね」

Hello. I'm a Chinese who has learned and practiced Japanese for several years, so I think I could give you some advice. Here 食せ means "Eat it!", and obviously the original form of that is 食す(しょくす), but maybe you have found that the word you learned expressing "to eat" is 食べる(たべる) and 食う(くう). The difference among the three words is just their nuance, that 食す is formally used, 食べる is frequently used, and 食う is casually used. Hope that this answer could help you.

食せ: 食べる eat の old-fashioned imperative form 見無い食事: (I'm guessing ...) 見たこともない食事 After all it seems that non-native wrote the sentence.
