It's a hard lesson, and it's one I relearn more often that I'd like: I'm not as popular as i think i am. Turns out that buzzin i feel in my pocket wasn't a text. It wasn't a call. It wasn't a text. It was nothing, the thing a phone does when absolutely no one is trying to get in touch with you. And back in the pocket the it goes, taking with it just one more small shred of ego.
It's from the Newyork Times and about a feel phatom cell-phone buzzing as it named.
and I do know how i have to translate the last sentece of it. from And back to shred of ego.. that's unfamiliar with me.

"A shred" is a small scrap. Think of the verb "to shred", and the pieces that you get from shredding something are called shreds.
The incident took a piece of the writer's ego, ie. she had a very small experience of humiliation. She felt stupid because she thought her phone was buzzing, only to discover it wasn't.
For the second question, I understand it to mean 13% of the original 68%, which works out to about 9% from the overall survey.

and I've got another question here.
- a 2010 surve of hospital workers put the number at 68%, with 13 % of people who'd had phantom vibration reporting that they felt them at least once a day.
in this sentence, is the 13% included in the prior 68% or is the 13% another different percentage regardless of 68% ??
