The passengers in the plane were afraid when of the pilots informed them that two of the planes engines had died.
The flood washed away all of the houses that were recently built.

sentences 1 and 2 has error and 3 is right i think.
1. as the car instead of for the car will fix it.
2. were afraid and two plane engine's have died or two of the plane's engines have died.
