What does "So bringt das nichts" mean in this text?
Es gibt aber noch eine Menge andere Jobs, bei denen du nicht immer bis mitten in der Nacht arbeiten musst. "So bringt das nichts." Wenn dann ab März noch die Betriebspraktika dazukommen, schaffst du es zeitlich gar nicht mehr.
Does that mean "Woking at nicht like that way brings you nothing".....?
Is "So" in that sentence an adverb?

'so' is an adverb and here it means 'in this way'. The whole sentence: There is no use doing it in this way. To do it in this way doesn't pay. You can't get anywhere doing it in this way.

In English you would probably say something like "That won't work at all." And "so" is an adverb and here it means something like "doing it that way" indeed. "Wenn du das auf diese Weise machst, bringt das nichts."
