produzione su commessa What exactly does the phrase "produzione su commessa" refer to? I was studying the term "commessa" as it relates to production orders, but am not sure of the phrase. Does it have to do with producing materials exclusively based on a certain number of orders? Just trying to understand this fully, thank you, -Tom

Your guess is 100 % right. La produzione di XYZ e` generica, oppure senza commessa se XYZ viene prodotto, messo in magazzino e poi spedito quando ( e SE) arriva un ordine. La produzione di XYZ e` /su commessa/ quando l'azienda (the firm) riceve un ordine di acquisto e in seguito agli ordini attiva la fase di produzione. E` chiaro che (in genere) la produzione su commessa puo` anche essere di cose almeno in parte definite dal cliente (custom made).
