Hi...I'm not sure what these expressions means exactly. Can you please tell me when I have to use it?to what hours of the day they are referred?
For example После обедa = 1.00-2.00 pm (??)
В полдень = 12.00
Во второй половине дня= 4.00-5.00 pm ?
Пополудни =?
После полудня = 5.00 -6.00 pm ?
Спасибо: )))

После обеда – depending on the lunch time, but mostly after 2 p.m.
В полдень – at 12.00, at noon
Во второй половине дня – after the lunch, i.e. from 1 - 2 p.m. and till 4- 5 p.m.
Пополудни – this word is usually used with the particular time, for example, «в 3 часа пополудни», which means “at 3 p.m.”. Basically, «пополудни» means “after the noon”
После полудня – means the same as «пополудни».

I never though about "во второй половине дня" as something clearly delimited. For me it is what comes after "первая половина дня" first of all. Now "первая" is defined differently for different people, but mosly it is 'before the lunch'. Then comes "вторая", but when "вторая" ends depends solely on the context. It can be 4-5 it is an organization which works till 6 and I don't want to bother them immediately before six. But if it is my friend who has a habit to sleep till 12-14 in Satruday.... I'll take it as "don't bother me before 4-6 p.m. please":) So it its Absolutely unclear where it starts and oes it ends. Some people exclude evening, some people just mean 'no earlier then'.
