stall or counter? Why? In the street market. I wander around looking at each stall/counter, and asking about prices. And one more "Fresh fruit and vegetables are usually good taste/value." Why value?

Hi Jessica, a stall is the whole unit where someone sells their fruit & veg or clothes at a market, whereas a counter is a surface where you would pay for something in the stall or in a shop. You would also have a counter (surface) at home where you prepare meals. Fresh fruit and vegetables are usually good taste/value." : "Fresh fruit and vegetables usually taste good" this is about the flavour and you like the taste. However, fresh fruit and vegetables are usually good value" this means that they are cheap or cheaper than they were in the past. So you are happy about the price. Hope this helps!:) Sinead

Stall. It's the typical word used for what you mean. Of course a "stall" also has a "counter" (the place where you pay), but it seems more sensible to think of you wandering around and looking at the goods laid out on the many surfaces and shelves of the stalls, rather than thinking of you looking at the stall counters.

"Stand" :) I think they all could be right depending on how they look and therefore what they are. It may also vary by dialect. I would use stand most often based on the markets we have in my area. For other markets or individual sellers, stall or counter could work better. Sorry it's not much help, I'm in class haha. Something I like to do for similar words I'm learning is look up pictures in the target language to get a feel for what each word looks like or generally represents.
