Aquí translation is "here" is an indicative, meaning "this very place"
Por aquí is also an indicative but means "this way"
- Excuse me, where is the airport? - perdón, donde queda el aeropuerto?
- Right here! - aquí mismo!
- Is here? - Es aquí?
- yes, here! - Si, aquí

"Aquí" means "here"; in the same location you are.
"Por aquí" means "through here" or "this way" depending on if you're pointing that someone/thing gone through somewhere, or if you're telling someone to follow you.

Aquí: exactly here, point or place.
Por aqui: this way, some were here, but not the exactly point or place

The difference is that "here" he(she) says to you that these in a place.
Ej: "here" it is the school.
And "hereabouts" it(he,she) indicates you where it(he,she) is.
Ej: "hereabouts" this room

hi i'm from mexico so I speak spanish, in my country we use "aqui" to say HERE but this word is used when you are in the place; in contrast, "por aquí" means that you are near for the place that you want to go or that something is near to that place, "por aquí" is used to mention that you are almost in the place but no yet!!!!!
