The corrections offered are right, but a little unnatural. . A more natural thing to say would be "Have you participated in any photography events? " as this allows an answer like "Yes, 7". Otherwise it sort of seems as if the other person would say "Yes, more than one." An alternative would be Have you participated in a photographic event? but again, this sounds as if, you are asking about one, or maybe trying to stress the "photographic".
