do these two expressions convey the same idea? I'm talking about 'How dare you' and 'How could you'. For example, someone ran my child over, and the police caught this person and put to jail. Do these two sentences imply the same meaning? - How dared you run my son over?! - How could you run my son over?! thx.

Well it's not really the same. Nobody would really use How dare you run my son over? to dare means a : to challenge to perform an action especially as a proof of courage <dared him to jump> b : to confront boldly : defy <dared the anger of his family> 2 : to have the courage to contend against, venture, or try <the actress dared a new interpretation of the classic role>

No they're slightly different. And i've just realised i can't even really explain the differences sufficiently so i'll leave it to someone else. In this instance lots of native examples would probably be best.
