GERMAN: Prepositional pronouns like "dafür", "damit", "daran", "darauf" and "es" in sentences Is it necessary to place prepositional pronouns such as the aforementioned ones in all sentences? For instance, would it be okay to just say "Ich möchte dass wir miteinander reden"? Or is it more correct to put it this way "Ich möchte es, dass wir miteinander reden" Or another example would be "kannst du mir helfen, mein Deutsch zu üben" is that correct or should it be more concretely written as in "kannst du mir dabei helfen, mein Deutsch zu üben?" Either way, I would truly appreciate an explanation on when to use such prepositional pronouns and IF it it always necessary to use them, if not then in which cases is it okay not to write them?

That is actually a good question and a difficult one to answer, too. Because it depends on every single verb. For instance, 'möchten' can have 2 structures: either 'ich möchte es' or 'ich möchte, dass ...'. So, 'ich möchte es, dass ...' is wrong. For 'helfen', the situation is different, the prepositional pronoun is optional, so both sentences are correct. But for other verbs, let's say 'es geht um' it is mandatory: Es geht darum zu verstehen, wie diese Verben funktionieren. How to know which one is optional and which one is not? There is no rule. Basically, you have to know for every single verb, because very single verb has its own structure.
