What is the difference between "wear" and "put on"?
Hello, everyone!
What is the difference between "wear" and "put on"?
This morning I went for a walk with my daughter and she was wearing her underwear and nothing else. It's hot outside and she's a baby. She didn't want to put on something else. I met my friends and they asked me:
- Are you going to swim? (we have a swimming pool outside)
And it was difficult for me to answer to this question correctly. I thought about the difference between "wear" and "put on". I answered:
- No, she didn't want to wear anything else.
And I think it was wrong. What would be the correct answer? She didn't want to put on anything else? She didn't want to wear?
And is this sentence correct?
The man is wearing glasses.
Thank you for your help!

Both are possible. What you are 'wearing'is the result of what you have 'put on' .
"Put on" refers to the action of slipping the dress over her head, putting the arms through the arm holes, pulling it down over her body and doing up the buttons ( for example). "Wear" refers to how she's dressed for the for the rest of the day
If you say "She didn't want to put on anything else", you're talking about the moment in the morning when you were dressing her and getting her ready. You tried to put her ordinary clothes on, and she refused.
If you say "She didn't want to wear anything else", you're talking about how she wanted to go out - she wanted to spend the day wearing nothing but her underwear.

насколько я помню put on это непосредственно надевать, а wear - носить
