Hi Noemi,
Consider these two sentences:
A: This is my bag.
B: This bag is mine.
In A, "my" is a possessive adjective, as it shows some form of ownership. At the same time, it is an adjective providing more information about the ownership of the bag (which is a noun).
In terms of sentence construction, possessive adjectives come with a noun.
In B, "mine" is a possessive pronoun. Again, the word shows some form of ownership. At the same time, it is a pronoun.
In terms of sentence construction, possessive pronouns are often found in the beginning or end of a sentence.
Example:
The cat is mine. (The possessive pronoun is used at the end of the sentence as an object of the clause).
Mine is the bigger luggage. (Now, the possessive pronoun is used as subject of a clause).
Therefore, the answer is: C.
Note: it happens that "his" is both used as possessive adjective and possessive pronoun.
This is the confusing part.
Example: This is his document. VS This document is his.
Hope this helps.
Cheers,
Lance
