Correct usage of the verb spoil?
Hello guys,
My teacher told me that there are two usages for the verb spoil:
1. To spoil someone
2. To spoil something
Are these examples correct?
1. I spoiled her by buying a new car.
2. The weather spoiled the party.
Yes, but better to say I spoiled her by buying her a new car, although saying "her" twice is slightly clumsy, so maybe you could say Ï spoiled her by making her a present of a new car".
