For starters, what does 88, and 81 mean? What are some others (thought I saw 888 or 881)? You gotta look at the sounds they make: 88 = ba ba which sounds simliar to "bye bye" 881 even more so there are more 74 = 去死 (Chinglish "Go die!" lol, i love Chinglish sometimes) 56 = 无聊 1314 = 一生一世 8客气 = 不要客气 3Q = (San Q) Thank you There are more but I forget... Once I created a budget for work and the results were not good! The total price was 514,514 RMB haha, 514 sounds like 我要死 (I'm going to die) so I gave the guy a discount to make the number sound nicer! HAHA Just remember, if you see numbers in place of words, try to imagine what common sentence/phrase they sound like :-)

88,881 and 886 means byebye. Because in Chinese byebye is 拜拜, 拜拜's pronunciation is similar with 8's in Chinese. So we use 88 instead byebye. It is convenient and quick ：）
