If the only reason that you want to learn Hebrew is the trip that you'll do in a year, then you should know that most Israelis speak English, and tourists don't have to speak Hebrew or Arabic in order to enjoy the travel. If you there are other reasons as well, then I do suggest that you'll work with a teacher. I'm learning Arabic and I'm learning with a teacher and at least for me there is no substitute to those lessons.
