"Wayfarer" I understand that "wayfarer" means "a person who travels (usually on foot?!) trying to find their own way..." but I got a doubt here:

Is there only this word in english? Or it can also be used as a verb?

For example:

1) "He had often been traveling."

Could I say:

2) "He had often been wayfaring."

I should think that "wayfare" is sort of an archaic word, but I'm not that sure about it!

Could you guys explain all this to me?!

Thanks.

Wayfaring can be used as an adjective as in "a wayfaring man". This isn't a common word at all and you could get by without ever using it unless you read books on travel or adventure.

It is a noun only, usage is restricted to prose and poetry. I have never heard it used in conversation.
