I'm wondering pronunciation of " OFTEN "with silent (t) is British or American ?

I'm in the US (California) and we use both. I say the T sometimes and other times not. I have no idea why.

You will hear both pronunciations. Which one is correct? I'd say it depends on the country and the local preference. Either one is fine.
