Il Dialetto Pugliese
Ciao,
mio padre viene dalla Puglia, cioe parla pugliese. Anch`io vorrei sapere parlare pugliese, ma non riesco a trovare libri o sito web per imparare il pugliese. (Sono madrelingua tedesco)
Forse qualcuno di voi potrebbe consigliarmi alcuni siti web etc. Anche va bene se sono scritti in italiano o inglese :)

Hi there. First of all, there is more than one dialect in Apulia; and the southern one (dialetto salentino) belongs to the same family of Sicilian. So you should have clear which dialect you're more interested into.
I suppose you already know the following sites: here I found a miscellanea of proverbs and stories
http://www.dialettando.com/regioni/puglia.lasso
- here's a Dictionary

- other proverbs

However, you're lucky because Apulian dialects have a noticeable success in Cabaret (starting from actor Lino Banfi in the 70s -- who also recently made a movie about being "an apulian immigrant in Germany") ;
so if you prefer to open Bing Video and key-search about , eg : Zelig, pugliese -- or : dialetto, barese, foggiano, tarantino -- you'll find such a quantity of videos.
Perhaps the most peculiar aspect of north-central apulian dialects is vowels : that might be because it was influenced by nordic (germanic-french) peoples, and especially Barese dialect twists vowels as they were made with clay, which make Apulian dialects generally "funny" -- opposite to Neapolitan , which is associated (especially thanks to the movie "Gomorra") to gore crime -- and instead has a long tradition literature (so here you'd find English material!)
My grandma said that Apulian dialects are "a wrong italian" -- this means that in any case there still is a mutual intelligibility with Italian; while Gomorra has been presented with subtitles as it is impossible, a movie like "La Capa Gira" (which, of course, is funny) is a bit more clear.
Byjje!
